‘Open Isolation’
'Open Isolation': Is a combination of the traditional Japanese architecture of the teahouse and a picture of the entrance door of a Dutch nuclear bunker.
The thin Japanese sliding doors and the thick nuclear door are both made for the same purpose: to protect us from the outside world. The only difference is their thickness.
The picture of the nuclear door and the question of what is going on behind it in contrast to the openness of the teahouse is an essential part of my work.
Exhibited in 2021 at the exhibition 'Art Seeds Hirado 2021' in Hirado, Japan. These two works were shown at the Kanuntei teahouse of the Matsūra Historical Museum.
